SCHOOL SECURITY PROGRAM

VOLUNTEER SPECIAL DEPUTIES

The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office and the Wellpinit School District are looking for interested individuals that would like to be part of a pilot program to provide trained Special Deputies to the schools in the district.  The interested volunteers should live within the Wellpinit School District, and must be willing to undergo an extensive background check to include a polygraph and psychological exam.  Successful applicants will then attend a local training academy.  All required equipment and uniforms will be provided.  Those that graduate from the academy will be sworn in as Special Deputies with the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office.  Volunteer days and hours will be at the applicant’s convenience and availability.

Applications for the program are available for download on the Stevens County website, www.stevenscountywa.gov .  Go to the Sheriff’s Office tab on the right hand side, and then to the School Safety Program Application heading.  If you have any questions, you can call the Sheriff’s Office at 509-684-5296.
