Stevens County Veterans Advisory Board (SCVAB)

This advisory board meets at least annually and advises the Stevens County Board of County Commissioners on the needs of and resources available to county veterans,  dependents, and survivors. The membership of the Board consists of a representative and two alternates appointed by the Commanders of the seven nationally recognized  Veterans Service Organizations (VSO) in the County and a representative appointed by the Commissioners from each of the Commissioner Districts. The Chairperson is selected by the members of the Board. Stevens County Veterans Information and Referral (SCVIR) Line (509-685-2838)

When available, volunteers staff this line and provide information and referral services for a wide variety of veteran programs and services. When volunteers are not available, an automated response system forwards callers to selected veteran service providers. Callers may also leave a message and expect a response with two business days.

 

Stevens County Veterans Assistance Fund (SCVAF)

The Stevens County Veteran Assistance Fund may be available to assist veterans, dependents, and survivors with temporary financial difficulties. To apply for assistance, call the Stevens County Veterans Information and Referral Line at 509-685-2838 or the Stevens County Auditor’s Office at 509-684-7566 for referral to a Relief Committee Post Investigating Officer. Veterans will need picture identification, proof of an honorable military service, proof of income for the last 30 and 90 days, and the original bill or invoice to be paid. Surviving spouses will also need a copy of the veteran’s Death Certificate and their Marriage Certificate.
